Welcome Back!

The Dodgers have played exactly 24 games and are 13-11 (.542) thus far into the 2024 regular season – good enough to hold a 0.5-game lead over the 13-12 (.520) San Diego Padres for first place in the National League West.

As you may recall, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts‘ team got off to a blazing hot start to the 2024 campaign, but then went into a horrible slump, losing seven of their last 10 games.

Fortunately, although the Friars have won six of their last 10, their horrific start to the season has kept them behind the Dodgers through their first 25 games.

So, why that 3-7 skid? Two words: Freddie Freeman, who went 8-for-36 (.222) during that stretch, with no home runs, three doubles, and five RBI. Unfortunately, although the extremely popular Villa Park, CA native and second round draft pick in 2007 by the Atlanta Braves out of El Modena High School in Orange, CA walked seven times over those last 10 games, he also struck out a very un-Freddie-like seven times, repeatedly telling reporters that his “…timing was off.”

Freddie Freeman’s timing is back on.

In his last two games, Freeman went 4-for-6 (.666), with two doubles, five RBI, two walks, and no strikeouts.

Freeman’s fifth-inning two-run double against the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon made it 5-0 Dodgers in their eventual 10-0 shutout of ‘The Amazin’ Mets.’ (SportsNet LA)

As we have all come to know:

So goes Freddie (and Mookie) – So go the Dodgers.

Play Ball!
