‘She Is Gone!’

It is a phrase that Dodger fans love to hear:

“She is gone!”

It is, of course, a phrase made popular by Hall of Fame Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully to describe a Dodger home run and is still used today by many (most) radio and television baseball broadcasters.

On Tuesday evening, extremely popular Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani crushed, absolutely crushed an 85.6-mph slider from Washington Nationals right-hander Matt Barnes that came off the bat at 118.7 mph and traveled 450 feet, landing in the second deck in very deep right field at Nationals Park.

And then there’s this:

Ohtani’s ninth-inning monster solo blast made it 4-1 Dodgers, which was the final score.

“She is Gone!” indeed.
