Some Days It Rains

As Angelenos know all too well, 2024 has been among the wettest on record, especially for those living in the Palos Verdes region of the Southland.

And wouldn’t you know it, there is a chance of rain, albeit slight, in today’s forecast right around 4 p.m., when the Los Angeles Dodgers of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are scheduled to take the field at Dodger Stadium for the first game of the annual three-game Spring Training Freeway Series.

As of this writing, there was a 32% chance of rain at 4 p.m. in Los Angeles.

Although there is a 68% chance that it won’t rain at game time, and even though the grounds crew at Dodger Stadium are among the best in the game at tarping the infield, one has to believe that neither team is willing to risk injury due to a wet outfield for a “meaningless Spring Training game” a mere five days before Opening Day.

The popular quote from the 1988 Academy Award-winning baseball film Bull Durham.

Putting this negativity and dark cloud (literally and figuratively) aside, I’m going with the 68% that today’s game is a ‘Go’.

“It’s Tiiiiime for Dodger Baseball!”
