Former Dodger Steve Sax to Honor Late Son’s Foundation

Former Los Angeles great Steve Sax, who lost his son in a tragic military training accident, will hold the inaugural golf tournament at Tierra Rejada Golf Course and a luncheon at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley CA on Sunday, November 5.

The golf tournament and luncheon will benefit the Captain John J. Sax Foundation. The foundation will help support others whose purpose is to offer scholarships and grants of hardship cases to aspiring aviators.

“My son, Captain John J. Sax, was a true patriot whose devotion and love of country was immeasurable,” said Sax. As a young boy his love for aviation was clearly apparent as he was able to look into the sky and name the aircraft that were passing overhead. My son’s life dream came true when he became an aviator in the Marine Corps. Sadly, my dear son and four of his fellow Marines lost their lives prematurely in a tragic V-22 Osprey training accident on June 8, 2022.”
