Just STOP the Nonsense

First and foremost, let’s set the record straight. ThinkBlueLA.com has three very basic and simple guidelines:

  • No Profanity.
  • No Porn.
  • No Politics.

Pretty straightforward, right?

…until you step on our toes.

On Thursday afternoon, the animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) stepped on our – and Major League Baseball’s – toes when it was widely reported that PETA is asking (insisting) that MLB change the name ‘bullpen’ to “arm barn.”

“Strike out [a weak play on words] the word ‘bullpen,’ which references the holding area where terrified bulls are kept before slaughter, in favor of a more modern, animal-friendly term,” Tracy Reiman, PETA’s executive vice president told TMZ Sports. “Words matter, and baseball ‘bullpens’ devalue talented players and mock the misery of sensitive animals.”

Sensitive animals? Are you kidding me? That’s my medium rare Spencer steak from Jocko’s or my Double-Double from In-N-Out you’re talking about there.

I’m not making this stuff up, folks. Reiman and his bullpen full of nutcases wants MLB to change the name of a baseball term that has been around since MLB began in 1869 because it’s more “animal-friendly.”

Needless to say, this did not go over well on social media:

If PETA has it’s way (and you never know with Rob Manfred at the helm of MLB), the next time Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Walker Buehler, Julio Urías (et al.) throws between starts, it may soon be referred to as an ‘arm barn’ session instead of a ‘bullpen’ session.

  1. All I keep reading about is name changes, because they “hurt” people. I think there are to many young sensitive people, these days. I say (young)
because most of these names are much older than me.

There are a lot of people out there with way to much time on their hands and not a whole lot of brains in their heads.

Pitching Preparation Area is a better name than arm barn. The PPA.
