Achoo!

When you are dealing with an injury, even the simplest of things can be painful … say like sneezing when you have a strained oblique.

Dodgers utility infielder/outfielder Zach McKinstry has a strained right oblique, for which he is currently on the 10-day Injured List.

He sneezed.

…and it didn’t hurt!

“The latest is he was able to sneeze and not feel anything,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of the 26-year-old Toledo, OH native and Dodgers 33rd round draft pick in 2016 out of Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI on Friday afternoon. “When you’re talking about the oblique, that’s a big deal.”

Big indeed.

Before straining his oblique during batting practice back on April 22, which landed him on the IL the next day, McKinstry was 16-for-54 (.296) with five doubles, three home runs, and 14 RBI. Needless to say, the horrendously slumping Dodgers sure could use those kinds of offensive numbers now.

Sneezes notwithstanding, Roberts said that there is no timetable for McKinstry’s return to action and even hinted that it may still be a while.

But regardless, keep on sneezing, Zach.

…and gesundheit!
