The New York native made one appearance in 2020, tossing one scoreless inning with three strikeouts before undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery in August. Prior to joining the Yankees in 2017, he spent two seasons with the Colorado Rockies (2014-15) and two seasons with the Chicago White Sox (2016-17) and is a combined 9-9 with a 3.82 ERA (118 ER/277.2 IP) in seven Major League seasons.

Kahnle was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Lynn University.
