Get Mad, Dodgers. Get REALLY REALLY Mad

After getting over the initial shock and embarrassment of having their butts handed to them in Wednesday’s 15-3 loss to the Dodgers in Game-3 of the National League Championship Series, there was only one thing left for the humiliated Atlanta Braves to do – Get mad. Get really really mad.

The Atlanta Braves got really really mad.

They came out with a vengeance on Thursday evening for Game-4 and promptly returned the favor by shocking and embarrassing the Dodgers, beating them by a score of 10-2 to take a commanding three-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Dodgers had only three hits on Thursday night. One was this solo home run by Edwin Rios in the top of the third inning to give the Dodgers a (brief) 1-0 lead. (Video capture courtesy of Fox Sports)

Although we will probably never know for sure, there is a very good chance that Braves manager Brian Snitker (or someone within the Braves organization) did some serious butt-chewing following Wednesday’s embarrassing loss to the Dodgers.

It worked.

Although we will probably never know for sure, there is a very good chance that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts (or someone within the Dodgers organization) did not do some serious butt-chewing following Thursday’s embarrassing loss to the Braves, because that’s not how Dave Roberts operates.

He needs to … or someone needs to.

It’s time for a good old fashioned butt-chewing, Doc.

“I think you’ve got to give credit at times to hitters,” Roberts told reporters (via Zoom) after the game. “We get two strikes, they fight and put the ball in play. You do that, you might find some hits out there. When we get ahead [in the count], we’re not finishing with the strikeout.”

Excuses are not what we want to hear, Dave. Your team had three hits.

Rather than bore (and upset) you with the ugly details of Game-4 in which the Dodgers had only three hits (they had 16 the night before), let me lay the one fact on you that nobody wants to hear but is etched in MLB history: Only seven teams have overcome a 1-3 deficit to advance to the World Series since MLB went to the current best-of-seven League Championship Series format in 1985. That’s seven times in 34 years (20.59%) prior to the COVID-19-shortened 2020 MLB season.

Get mad, Dodgers. Get really really mad.
