Moo-kie! Moo-kie!

We can all sit down and relax now. The crazy chase to get Mookie Betts and David Price is now over. We officially have them on the roster, numbers and all.

Betts will be wearing number 50 which, during the introductory press interview this week on the field at Dodger Stadium, he explained that he usually goes for number fifty, as it is typically not taken. People just don’t seem to want it.

Price is going to be wearing number 33, which he expressed was in honor of former teammate James Shields, who has been a great mentor to him while coming up to the big leagues.

You would think that the biggest change for both players would be the same and obvious – moving to Los Angeles. But this is not true and I personally forgot that there this a big game-changer for David Price. By switching leagues he now is going to have to be a hitter in the lineup, no more designated hitter for him anymore. During his questioning by the media, he shared that he is willing to do anything that the team asks him to do except for playing the catcher position … but he was only joking.

As exciting as it is to have Mookie Betts on the roster, we all have to keep in the back of our minds that he is a free agent next year. It is still way too early to predict what will happen in 2021, the man is still looking for a place to live with his family. As far as the “Hollywood lifestyle” neither player seemed to be struck by Hollywood, they both just want to focus on their families and the game. While watching the press conference I had an overwhelming feeling of excitement. This season is going to be our greatest season yet!

I was reading a top100 players list And Belly was 3 and Betts was 4 so we have 2 of the 4 highest rated players in the game in our starting 8

and over the last 2 seasons only Christian Yelich and Anthony Rendon have a better wRC+ (runs created) than Max Muncy. I am confident Seager will return to his offensive production in 2016 & 2017, Turner will put up the same numbers he has since becoming a Dodgers, and Gavin Lux has the ability to be an offensive force for the team, perhaps winning another ROY.

  2. What’s amazing is that Trout has been at the top of that best 100 players in the game list in 7 out of the last 8 years..yet he has failed to take his team into the PS for the most part, and I know it’s not all on him why, but he hasn’t been a par of any PS game victory in all that time.

I’m not sure that SoCal can be measured in a day or two, but it’s not a bad place to be, or to be from. If either want’s the quiet, rural life they’ll have to move there after they retire and they aren’t going to play there.

  4. I’ve been a Dodger fan for 72 years, for sure, I may’ve forgotten a lot but it’s hard to remember a better acquisition than Betts and Price, in all those years. I think we’ve gotten two good ones. I hope the team would consider signing Betts after he becomes a free agent.

Well it’s a little before your time but how about, Pee Wee Reese from Boston for Red Evans, Art Parks and $150,000 on July 18, 1939?

The Betts and Price acquisition has the potential to be great or bad. We’re going to have to wait a few years for the final answer.

Hopefully, we now have an advantage in resigning Betts, but for how much?

The respect that ALL of the players in the Dodgers CBR clubhouse have for Mookie Betts is amazing.
