ThinkBlue LA is now on Facebook … finally

With Dodgers FanFest 2019 only a week away, I decided to ask ThinkBlue LA administrator (and my ThinkBlue LA boss) Ron Cervenka – a bona fide, card-carrying non-Facebooker – if I could put my recently earned bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from UC San Bernardino to work by (gulp) setting up a Facebook page for ThinkBlue LA.

Now that you’ve stopped rolling on the floor laughing, read on and allow me to digress.

Prior to Game-5 of the 2018 National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Dodger Stadium, I had an opportunity to talk with a couple fans sitting next to us. Ron had just brought me on-board as a staff writer for ThinkBlue LA and he introduced me and the website to them. No sooner had he done so when they asked if ThinkBlue LA had a Facebook page. In no uncertain terms (but without any profanity), Ron diplomatically told them we did not and never would.

Book closed. End of story.

…or so I thought.

With nearly four months of water under the bridge and roughly a dozen articles now under my belt with TBLA, I decided to throw caution to the wind and (gulp) once again broach the Facebook idea with Ron.

Not only did he finally agree to do so, albeit somewhat reluctantly, he said “I’ll do it, but only if you run it. You might as well do something with that college degree of yours,” he kidded.

Yes!

This is exactly what I was hoping for! And even though it’s taken me a while to get around to even thinking about starting a ThinkBlue LA Facebook page, the important thing is that I did!

My baby!

My plan is to share all of the articles and photographs from the ThinkBlueLA.com website with those who choose to follow us on Facebook in hopes of reaching even more Dodger fans. It was a tough sell, but I managed to convince Ron that there are quite a few people on Facebook who are intimidated by Twitter, just as he is (was?) about Facebook. I also want to make the new ThinkBlue LA Facebook page comfortable and very user-friendly for Dodger fans.

Whether polling about who’s attending next week’s FanFest event (keep an eye out for that one real soon) or asking Facebooking Dodger fans what topics they’d like to read about on the website, our goal is to give them another avenue for sharing information and interacting with fellow Dodger fans about our beloved team.

I will also be posting photos taken by Ron and myself on our new Facebook page and we encourage those who are so inclined to share their own photos as well. At ThinkBlue LA we are big believers in giving photo credit where it’s due, so should you decide to send us a photo, please let us know who took it.

If you have any suggestions or ideas for the new ThinkBlue LA Facebook page, please feel free to leave a comment here or, better yet, on the new Facebook page itself, which you can access immediately by clicking on the dark blue Facebook icon at the top of this or any ThinkBlue LA.com page.

We hope to see you there!

Go Dodgers!
