Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour begins Monday

Beginning on Monday, January 23, 2017, the Dodgers embark on their 14th annual Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour presented by Bank of America. This week of community outreach and fan appreciation will feature Dodger players, coaches, alumni and employees and Bank of America volunteers making visits throughout the Southland through Friday, January 27.

Dodgers Luis Avilan, Austin Barnes, Grant Dayton, Chase De Jong, Jose De Leon, Andre Ethier, Kyle Farmer, Yasmani Grandal, Chris Hatcher, Kiké Hernandez, Rich Hill, Adam Liberatore, Kenta Maeda, Vidal Nuño, Joc Pederson, Yasiel Puig, Josh Ravin, Jacob Rhame, Darin Ruf, Corey Seager, Rob Segedin, Brock Stewart, Ross Stripling, Chris Taylor, Trayce Thompson, Andrew Toles, Justin Turner, Scott Van Slyke, Alex Wood, Dodger manager Dave Roberts and Dodger Strength and Conditioning Coaches Brandon McDaniel, Travis Smith and Shaun Alexander are scheduled to participate.

Dodger alumni Ron Cey, Al Ferrara, Dennis Powell and Maury Wills, Hall of Fame Manager Tommy Lasorda and Dodger broadcasters Joe Davis, Alanna Rizzo and Fernando Valenzuela will also participate.

As the official bank of the Dodgers, Bank of America is a returning sponsor of the community tour and this year more than 80 Bank of America volunteers will participate at community events throughout the week.

Dodger fans that are present throughout the Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour presented by Bank of America can receive a voucher for 50 percent off three promotional games this season. This offer will be limited and distributed to fans at tour stops open to the public.

Monday, January 23

The first day of Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour presented by Bank of America kicks off Monday with a morning coffee event with Dodgers Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner. Joc Pederson will host a family pet photo opportunity at the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks’ Silver Lake Dog Park, with the assistance of Bank of America volunteers. Fans and their dogs will take photos and receive giveaways. This event will be rescheduled in the case of inclement weather.

Tuesday, January 24

Tuesday’s events will be highlighted by a fitness and health clinic for 100 underserved young women from the New Village Girls Academy with Dodger Strength and Conditioning Coaches Brandon McDaniel, Travis Smith and Shaun Alexander and VP and GM Nike West Territory Blanca Gonzalez. The clinic will include stretching exercises, athletic activities, tips on healthy eating habits and lunch. Nike will provide product to participants. In addition, Bank of America Vice President Angela Meadows will be on hand along with Bank of America volunteers to participate as mentors.

That evening, the Dodgers will host a movie night in the Dodger Lexus Dugout Club for Cedars-Sinai’s pediatric patients and their families. Trayce Thompson and the Dodger character will join the families for fun activities and games prior to watching the movie.

Wednesday, January 25

Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour presented by Bank of America continues Wednesday when Andre Ethier will host a clinic using softball drills, bocce ball and other activities for more than 20 Special Olympics of Southern California athletes at the Universally Accessible Dodgers Dreamfield at Baldwin Hills Recreation Center. Special Olympics Southern California enriches the lives of more than 28,505 athletes with intellectual disabilities and their communities through sports, leadership, and health programs. Bank of America Senior Vice President Raúl Bustillos and additional Bank of America volunteers will also support the event.

A special City of Los Angeles Council presentation in recognition of 2016 NL Manager of the Year Dave Roberts is scheduled at City Hall. Councilmember Gil Cedillo will lead the celebration.

The Dodgers will promote literacy at Los Angeles public libraries. Children will visit their nearby library branch and Dodger Adam Liberatore, Dodger alumni Ron Cey, Al Ferrara and Dennis Powell will read to 280 second and third graders at four Los Angeles Public Library branches. Each child will receive a book. Bank of America volunteers will be on hand at each of the participating branches to help with this educational event.

Ethier and Roberts will host an appreciation lunch in honor of the men and women who serve in the Los Angeles police and fire departments. The lunch will take place at the Northeast Community Police Station.

Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour presented by Bank of America on Thursday will include a surprise visit from Dodger broadcaster Fernando Valenzuela. A group of City employees will also receive a surprise pizza delivery by Kiké Hernandez and Rob Segedin in recognition of their commitment to creating a positive impact in the community.

Friday’s Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour presented by Bank of America will conclude with participation by Luis Avilan, Austin Barnes, Grant Dayton, Chase De Jong, Jose De Leon, Kyle Farmer, Yasmani Grandal, Chris Hatcher, Rich Hill, Adam Liberatore, Kenta Maeda, Vidal Nuño, Josh Ravin, Jacob Rhame, Darin Ruf, Corey Seager, Rob Segedin, Brock Stewart, Ross Stripling, Chris Taylor, Trayce Thompson, Andrew Toles, Scott Van Slyke, Alex Wood, Dodger manager Dave Roberts, Dodger alumni Maury Wills, Hall of Fame Manager Tommy Lasorda, Dodger broadcasters Joe Davis and Alanna Rizzo and Bank of America volunteers.

Dodgers Chase De Jong, Kyle Farmer, Yasmani Grandal, Chris Hatcher, Kenta Maeda, Josh Ravin, Jacob Rhame, Darin Ruf, Corey Seager, Rob Segedin, Ross Stripling, Chris Taylor and Trayce Thompson will begin their day hosting a mentorship day for children and families from the Dream Center.

De Jong, Farmer, Grandal, Hatcher, Maeda, Ravin, Rhame, Ruf, Seager, Segedin, Stripling, Taylor and Thompson will then host a Dodger rally at the Westfield Topanga Shopping Center.

8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Mentorship day with the Dream Center

3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  –  Westfield Topanga Shopping Center (first level) 6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd, Canoga Park, 91303

Dodgers Luis Avilan, Austin Barnes, Grant Dayton, Jose De Leon, Rich Hill, Adam Liberatore, Vidal Nuno, Jacob Rhame, Brock Stewart, Andrew Toles, Scott Van Slyke, Alex Wood, Dodger manager Dave Roberts, Dodger alumni Maury Wills and Dodger broadcasters Joe Davis and Alanna Rizzo will begin their day by playing host to a sports clinic with Crenshaw High School’s athletics department and student body which will include a motivational rally and student recognition with the Dodgers’ Community Hero award.

Dodger Kenta Maeda will also visit fans in the Japanese community at the Japanese American National Museum.

Avilan, Barnes, Dayton, De Leon, Hill, Liberatore, Nuño, Rhame, Stewart, Toles, Van Slyke, Wood, Roberts, Wills, Lasorda, Davis and Rizzo will then host a lunch for families of fallen soldiers at the Battleship Iowa Museum in San Pedro. The group, which includes Bank of America community volunteers, will then assemble backpacks with food and distribute to children as part of the Blessings in a Backpack program at the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club.
