Dodgers recall left-hander Luis Avilan from OKC

The Dodgers have placed right-handed pitcher Louis Coleman on the Bereavement List and recalled left-handed pitcher Luis Avilan from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Avilan, 26, last pitched on Monday, when he struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings against Nashville and has not allowed a run in 6.0 innings in five appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City. With OKC, Avilan has limited opposing hitters to a .143 batting average (3-for-21) with nine strikeouts against just three walks. In four big league seasons with the Braves (2012-15) and Dodgers (2015), Avilan has gone 12-6 with a 2.96 ERA in 241 career games after being signed by Atlanta as an amateur free agent in 2005.

Coleman has a 0-1 record with a 7.20 ERA (4 ER/5.0 IP) in five appearances with Los Angeles this season. It is being reported that his grandfather has passed away.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Louis and his family and friends.
