As you would expect, when Dodgers top prospect Corey Seager made his major league debut on September 3 at Petco Park in San Diego, he was nervous. But that was 11 days ago and since that day Seager has played in every one of the Dodgers 10 road games.

As such, you would think that with 34 at-bats now under his belt in which he has collected 14 hits (.412) including five doubles, a home runs and has driven in seven runs, that the butterflies would be gone as he heads into his September 14 Dodger Stadium debut against the Colorado Rockies.

Not so.

“It’s going to be kinda like my debut again. It’s going to be nerve-racking, the nerves are going to be there,” Seager said prior to his Dodger Stadium debut. “The legs are going to be light. all of the adrenaline’s gonna be going. It’s gonna be fun with the crowd.”

For those watching Seager’s debut in San Diego, he hid his nerves well – so much so that in his second at-bat in the fifth inning in which he collected his first major league hit – a double to Padres right fielder Matt Kemp – he appeared to be completely settled in.

Not so.

“In my debut it kind of lasted the whole time,” said the 21-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina native. “Hopefully here it will be the first ground ball, the first inning, the first hit – get it out of the way and kind of relax then.”

Whenever his nerves settle in – if they settle in – one thing is for certain, when Seager finally relaxes there is a very good chance the the hometown crowd is going to go wild.

It will be déjà vu all over again for Seager … only better.
