Mark Ellis Placed on DL – Ivan De Jesus Jr. Called up from Albuquerque

During Saturday’s pre-game press conference, Dodger manager Don Mattingly said that second baseman Mark Ellis has been placed on the 15-day Disabled List effective today and Ivan De Jesus Jr. has been called up from Triple-A Albuquerque. “Sue (Falsone) just told me about ten minutes ago that Mark will be on the DL for at least two weeks but the MRI isn’t complete yet so we don’t know everything yet.” Mattingly added that he will most likely fill the second base position according to match-ups.

In other news, Mattingly added that he is going to give Dee Gordon “a couple of days off” but was quick to add that Dee is still his lead-off guy and will resume that role when he returns to the line-up.

Can’t wait for IDJ to take the field. Tough break for Mark Ellis… the knee, the knee…

Don’t know why Mattingly won’t move the kid down the order until he gets his stroke back… because whatever they’re working on with him, it ain’t workin’…
