It is a saying coined many years ago by lovable and immortal Hall of Famer Yogi Berra:
“It ain’t over till it’s over.”
Truer words have never been spoken, as proven by the 2026 Los Angeles Dodgers, who have seemingly made a habit of pulling a rabbit out of their respective hats in the very late innings of the very young 2026 season. In fact, five of their seven wins have been of the come-from-behind variety.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts‘ team did it again in Sunday afternoon’s exciting 8-6 win over the NL East last-place Washington Nationals at Nationals Park following a two-hour rain delay.
“It was a good fight, we didn’t quit, we hung in there, just the at-bats, just kept grinding and played good defense” Roberts told SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson postgame. “It is a mark of our ball club that every out matters, every game matters, and it’s important because every game does matter,” he added.

Another of those making a habit of things is the suddenly blazing hot bat of 25-year-old Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages, who is now 16-for-34 and leads all of baseball with those 16 hits and his current .471 batting average.

With Sunday’s win, the Dodgers are now 7-2 and have a 2.5-game lead over the NL West second place Arizona Diamondbacks and a 4.5-game lead over the NL West last-place San Francisco Giants.
