A Heartfelt Thank You and Farwell

When Scott Harvey and I launched ThinkBlueLA.com back in 2015, we did so at a time when there were relatively few pure Dodgers-based blogsites out there. We also did so with one goal in mind: to provide our readers and followers with the latest news and information about MLB’s eighth-oldest franchise and their Minor League affiliates without annoying ad banners through ad-free articles that were written by Dodgers fans for Dodgers fans without accepting one penny of promotional sponsorship money.

Selecting a name for our then new and untested site was easy; it came for the large wooden sign that overlooked Dodger Stadium for more than a decade:

Ironically, one day while in the Dodger Stadium press box, then new Dodgers part-owner Stan Kasten approached me and asked: “Why was everyone so enamored with that sign?” The iconic Hollywood-like sign had been removed shortly after Guggenheim Baseball Management purchased the franchise from Frank McCourt on May 1, 2012 for $2 billion. I didn’t have the heart (nor the courage) to tell Kasten “If you know, you know” and instead answered “It’s was a tradition.”

ThinkBlueLA.com has always been a fan-based operation with a wonderful staff of talented unpaid and very passionate writers, with occasional guest writers.

Shortly after we debuted our new site, I was so very blessed to receive a media credential from then Dodgers PR coordinator Yvonne Carrasco Chalmé, who has since moved on to become the Senior Director of Wasserman Media Group. Yvonne is a wonderful lady who holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Boston University.

And now for the tough part of this piece. Due to health concerns, the time has come for this lifelong Dodger fan and former longtime Dodgers season ticket holder to hang up his spikes – and keyboard. ThinkBlueLA.com is officially shutting down, effective immediately with this final article.

Words cannot express the love and gratitude I have for the countless wonderful people I have been blessed to meet during our incredible run, especially and including many fellow sports writers, many great athletes, the Dodgers outstanding PR staff, and the best broadcasters in the business.

It would be impossible to name all of the wonderful people I was blessed to meet during my time in the Dodger Stadium press box. It would be even more impossible to say that Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully was not at the top of that list. “Well hello Ron” Vin would always say to me, leaving me utterly speechless.

I most certainly wish to thank my loyal and dedicated writers – past and present – who kept ThinkBlueLA.com up and running for more than a decade. There is no way I could have ever done this without their love, dedication, and passion for the Dodgers.

Thank you all and God Bless.

    Hey, Ron:

This is Bern Allen from stand 103 in the left field pavilion. I have faithfully read Think Blue LA for many years.I have many great memories of our discussions about the Dodgers before the games. I was wondering about the web site lately as it was appearing less often. I sincerely wish the best to you. I have moved to Colorado, following my daughter and her family. Sandi and I watch the Dodgers when they play the Rockies and I also frequently watch them on MLB Network.

I also enjoyed talking to you and your daughter when she would come to Dodger Stadium with you when she was visiting from New York. We have many great memories. Take care.

I also would be negligent if I did not mention the great times we had with other fans when we took trips to Arizona. Great memories

Thanks Ron for all your thoughtful articles over the past many years. I’ll always remember 2013 when a bunch of the TBLA readers got together at Camelback. It was a wonderful time.

You won’t post this but the truth is you block people who didn’t agree with you, no foul language but you kept stating emphatically the pandemic season would first never be played when I disagreed you then stated after the season started you stated it would never finished then you got reminded after the Dodgers won the World Series I reminded the readers you predicted it would never happen and I had continued money would drive the decision and be played and finished. So you then blocked me.
And my last prediction is you won’t let this be posted.
