Biggest Series of the Season?

The Dodgers will enter this weekend’s three-game series against the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium exactly 1.0 games ahead of … the San Francisco Giants.

Although the Dodgers will have 90 regular-season games remaining following Sunday’s series finale against The Hated Ones, the significance of this series cannot be understated or ignored.

In other words:

Just Win, Baby!
(LA Dodgers)

Play Ball!

I think this series is much more important to the Giants than the Dodgers — with the caveat that the Dodgers do not get swept.

With so many terrific players getting closer to returning (Glasnow, Snell, Sasaki, Sheehan for example), the Dodgers will have an incredibly strong roster for second half of the season. Neither the Giants, Padres, nor Dbacks have the wherewithal to strengthen their respective rosters to the same degree as the Dodgers.

First, tip your caps to Logan Webb for an outstanding pitching performance against the Dodgers.

Next, lăst night was the worst balls & strikes umpiring in recent memory. Adam Beck was the home plate umpire and IMO should be disciplined for a very poor performance. Yamamoto was not sharp (again) but he deserved better from a supposed professional umpire.

Dodgers hitters were also frustrated by Beck — essentially trying to hit with a floating strike zone.

Perhaps you may have noticed how Ohtani has become a full blown pull hitter this season (highest rate in his career of pulling the ball – 51%; and lowest ever hitting to opposite field 14.8%). Is he selling out for more home runs? He is strong enough to hit home runs to any field! Ohtani is hurting the team with his constant pull approach.
