It became very apparent very quickly that Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler was dialed in during his team’s 4-0 shutout win over the Cincinnati Reds at Dodger Stadium on Saturday evening.
In only his third Major League start since June 10, 2022, the 29-year-old Lexington, KY native and Dodgers first round draft pick in 2015 out of Vanderbilt University needed only seven pitches to get through the first inning and finished his Buehler-like 6.0 innings of work having made 78 total pitches of which 55 were strikes.
“We moved me on the rubber a little bit … it just makes everything look a little different,” Buehler said, following his first win at Dodger Stadium in exactly two years to the day. “My body kind of lines up a little differently. We did that in the bullpen in San Fran and liked what happened, and luckily it translated.”

“He was using his entire pitch mix. He wasn’t over-throwing, he was in control and in command the entire night.” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Buehler.

“I was telling my wife I kind of have to start listening to people and not just doing whatever I want all the time,” a noticibly pleased Buehler kidded with reporters postgame.
Welcome back Walker ‘Butane’ Buehler!
