With the Dodgers first Spring Training game set to be televised on SportsNet LA at noon on Thursday, and with the insane Spring Training that recently acquired superstar designated hitter/utility player Shohei Ohtani has had to this point, former Colorado Rockies outfielder and current MLB Network Radio analyst Ryan Spilboroghs had this to say about Ohtani on the air on Monday afternoon:
“We’ll never have fatigue when it comes to a unicorn, when it comes to one of the best that we’ve seen in our time frame. And Ohtani, when it’s all said and done, is going to be the generational conversation, ‘Was this the best that’s ever lived?’” So, it’s going to be really really hard to get Shohei Ohtani fatigue.”
As for that insane Spring Training thing, the 29-year-old Oshu, Japan native put on another incredible power display on Monday morning when, during his first Spring Training batting practice at-bat against live pitching, he absolutely crushed the fifth pitch from Dodgers right-hander J.P. Feyereisen for (another) monster home run to very deep right-center field.
Here is SportsNet LA‘s complete Dodgers Spring Training 2024 broadcast schedule:
Is Ohtani indeed “…one of the best that we’ve seen in our time frame?”
I’m with Spilly on this one.
