During his five seasons with the Dodgers, popular left-hander Alex Wood posted a 31-21 record and 3.54 ERA in the combined 95 games (76 starts) in which he appeared with the Dodgers. Along the way, the just-turned-33-year-old (on January 12) Charlotte, NC native and second round draft pick in 2012 by the Atlanta Braves out of the University of Georgia struck out 416, walked 227, and served up 43 home runs while wearing Dodger Blue, which you have to admit ‘ain’t too shabby.’
As Dodgers fans may recall, Wood also had a reputation for his dugout and clubhouse humor, which often helped keep things light during occasional dark times.
On Saturday afternoon, it was reported that the popular one-time Dodger (and once again free agent) was in agreement on a contract with the Oakland Athletics. This according FanSided‘s Robert Murray on X.com:
As Murray notes, the exact details of the deal are not yet known and are pending a physical.
Wood left the Dodgers following the tumultuous 2020 MLB season, signing a one-year/$3 million free agent contract with the San Francisco Giants on January 14, 2021. The Giants later re-signed Wood to a two-year/$25 million deal for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Although the Dodgers only face the A’s three times during the 2024 regular season (August 2-4, presumably at the Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum), it will be hard for Dodgers fans not to root for Alex Wood … except for those three games, of course.

Loved Wood. Hope he finds some success… except against us.
That’s what I always say about ex-Dodgers, especially the ones that I really liked. Hope they have success except against us. I like Alex. Always rooted for him, except when he played us, of course. He was fun.
