Dodgers Go From Good to ‘Really Really Really Good’

With the announcement late Wednesday night that the Dodgers had signed 32-year-old future Hall of Fame first baseman Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers instantly went from being an already good baseball team to a “really really really good” baseball team.

But can the addition of one guy actually do this? According to Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman, the guy who orchestrated the six-year/ $162 million deal, it can.

He is a really really really good baseball player,” Friedman told MLB Network‘s Brian Kenny on Wednesday.

Adding Freeman to a team that already had a projected Opening Day lineup of Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, Will Smith, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, Chris Taylor, and AJ Pollock, could very well put the 2022 Dodgers in the elite company of the 1927 New York Yankees; considered by many to be the greatest team of all time. This from ESPN.com‘s Jeff Passan:

Due to the late hour of the announcement, the Villa Park, CA native and second-round draft pick in 2007 by the Atlanta Braves out of El Modena High School in Orange, CA, was unavailable for comment, as were his new teammates. That said, you can bet the farm that they will be on Thursday.

Welcome to the Dodgers, Freddie!

Play Ball!

When Will Smith gets his inevitable All Star selection the Dodgers will have All Stars batting 1 through 9 and 4 MVP’s on top of it. Too bad Bauer won’t play for this team – he doesn’t deserve it – and May isn’t available all season or they’d need a word stronger than juggernaut.

    • Jesse Pearce says:

May should be ready to go right after the All Star break. No doubt he will be on strict pitch count restriction, but having him available to bolster the pitching staff will be the same as trading for a terrific pitching talent. I don’t see Pollock as an All Star, and Bellinger must prove that he can play to his potential.

With the All Star game hosted at Chavez Ravine this year, they should just let the AL team play the Dodgers! Very Happy Dodgers fan.
