Just What the Dodgers Didn’t Need

It was one of those things that you immediately knew was bad … Very bad.

This from the Dodgers:

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Corey Seager had x-rays tonight that revealed a fracture in his right hand.

Seager left tonight’s game in the bottom of the fifth inning after being hit in the right hand by Miami Marlins left-hander Ross Detwiler.

The North Carolina native has played in 37 games, batting .265 (39-for-147) with four homers and 22 RBI this season. The NLCS and World Series MVP has been with the Dodgers since being drafted in the first round (18th overall) in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Northwest Cabarrus High School and has amassed 92 homers and 329 RBI with a .293 batting average in 578 career games with the Dodgers.

“That does not sound good.” – Dodgers broadcaster Orel Hershiser while watching the replay.

During his postgame press conference, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that a roster move would be announced prior to Sunday’s series finale with the Marlins at Dodger Stadium.

Our best wishes are with Corey for a speedy and complete recovery.

  1. Not a good thing to happen during this nice 4 game winning streak. I guess we’re going to see how the Dodgers look without Seager.

@Dodgers The Pujols signing came at the perfect time. The timing is ironic. Move Lux to short, Muncy… https://t.co/TFis8FTNnz
