by Ron Cervenka Here are a few of the photos taken during Wednesday night’s debut of Brian Wilson with the Dodgers Advanced Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. As you know by now, Wilson pitched a scoreless inning to begin the game, retiring the side in order on only eight pitches.
Wilson figures to move on to Triple-A Albuquerque where he will most likely make three or four more rehab appearances, after which a decision will be made as to his future with the Dodgers. Although nothing is in stone, it is probably going to be a little uncomfortable in the Carlos Mármol household over the next couple of weeks.

Wilson wasn’t being rude to Quakes mascot Tremor, he was simply focused on his work.
As he always does, Wilson pitched from a stretch – which always begins with and exaggerated bend at the waist.
Although Wilson’s fastball topped out between 91-93 MPH, his slider came in between 87-89 MPH and was filthy.
Wilson’s slider was clocked between 87-89 MPH on the Epicenter’s radar gun.
Lost in the Brian Wilson hoopla was the fact that Quakes RHP Freddie Cabrera came on and pitched 5 innings of no-hit baseball, allowing only one unearned run on 4 walks while striking out 5.
New arrival Craig Stem pitched a scoreless 9th inning retiring the Storm in order to pick up his first save with the Quakes.
Prior to Wednesday night’s game, Dodgers 2012 first round draft pick Corey Seager was on hand to sign autographs for fans.

So he dissed the Dinosaur. Since I hate mascots my opinion of Wilson just escalated substantially.
I love mascots and Wilson will have to do more than that to escalate my opinion of him which is basically neutral.
I got sucked in by Manny Ramirez’s gimmicks. I don’t plan to be with Wilson’s.
Good for Corey Seager to be signing autographs and groomed like a ball player.
Mascots are fine for high school, college and the minor leagues but there is no place for them in Major League Baseball (IMO). Glad the Dodgers don’t have one.
I love how you resent nearly every signing by the Dodgers, Bluenose. I can remember the last one you liked.
I don’t resent. I am neutral on Wilson. He has to prove it. What is wrong with that? I didn’t like the signings of Manny Ramirez, Jon Garland, Aaron Harang, George Sherrill, Rod Barahas, Juan Rivera, long contracts to Ted Lilly, Matt Guerrier, Juan Uribe, Brandon League. The reason was for those and others that they could only lead to nowhere. They had little chance to win “now” and offered no future. I have liked guys like Jamey Carroll, Mark Ellis, Jerry Hairston, Nick Punto – the little guys who hold the team together. Puig, Ryu good signings as young players.
A check back on the forum will reveal I long ago wanted to sign Zach Greinke (2010) when he has his social anxiety disorder. I also wanted Ricky Nolasco (2011)and suggested Hanley Ramirez before he was signed. I still want Ben Zobrist.
As for mascots, the youngsters love them, and so do I. I tend to disagree and believe there is a place for them at any level of sports.
If the Isotopes had a “Dancing Homer” mascot, I could live with that.
