It’s been a long row to hoe, but if Saturday’s 11-5 Dodgers win over the hated division-rival San Francisco Giants is any indication, it is abundantly clear that 37-year-old Dodgers future first ballot Hall of Fame left-hander Clayton Kershaw is back to his old self.

The Dallas, TX native and Dodgers first-round draft pick in 2006 out of Highland Park High School in Dallas finished his injury-delayed sixth start of the season having allowed no runs on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts, doing so on 81 pitches, of which 56 were strikes.

“Well, you know, our offense is so good, I think it’s really important to get some zeros on the board early and see what they do,” Kershaw told SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson postgame. “You know, I think that if they feel the momentum, they start swinging the bats. So, from there, when you get that early lead, you just try to pound the zone as best you can. It wasn’t like amazing, there were some pitches that I was backed up, you know, they hit the ball hard at guys, but overall, to be efficient to see seven, it was a good day,” the Dodgers ace added.

A good day indeed.
