“This is what we said we were going to do and we did it,” Betts said postgame.

Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler struck out former Dodger Alex Verdugo for the final out of the 2024 World Series. It was Buehler’s first appearance out of the Dodgers bullpen since June 28,2018. (Fox)

“Earlier in the day I said if it gets squirrely let me know and I’ll head down there (to the bullpen),” the 30-year-old Lexington, KY native and Dodgers first-round draft pick in 2015 out of Vanderbilt told reporters after the second save of his seven-year MLB career.

It didn’t get “squirrely,” but striking out his former teammate was a fitting ending to the 2024 World Series.
