How’d that work out for you, Padres?

    Written today

When asked, Lugo said he felt the Dodgers knew what was coming in that fateful fourth. He said he thought they’d been relaying his pitch grips from second base, though he refused to use it as an excuse for his poor outing, saying he needed to be more conscious of that possibility in the moment.

“You try to stay locked in and focused on executing pitches, and some other stuff just slips your mind,” Lugo said. “… I knew coming in what they were going to do, especially on second base.”

Rick and Tim discussed this at length during Tuesday’s AM 570 radio broadcast. They agreed that a batter would be negligent if he wasn’t paying attention to how the catcher was lining up his glove to receive the next pitch, which is on the catcher, not the hitter or the opposing bench.

Seth Lugo is a whiny crybaby who was trying to blame someone else for giving up eight runs on eight hits and two walks in his 3.1 innings pitched.

Ron it’s not like he’s anymore than a career average pitcher. All things considered I think he breezed through the first 3 innings. For a pitcher like Lugo you would expect the dodgers to score 3 or 4 runs in 6 innings. No surprise to anyone that after pitching around Mookie to get to 3 and 0 and laying a nice juicy pitch down the middle to a guy with over 30 bombs and hitting 349 with men in scoring position that there might be a bad ending.

Wonder if Bob Melvin (a top notch manager) is tired of the San Diego circus and asks out of his 2024 contract? Lot of ML teams would love to have him as their on-field leader.

I said the same thing to my wife. Mets and Padres both have been awful and underperformed beyond all comprehension.
