It’s simple, really – run on 25-year-old Dodgers outfielder James Outman at your own peril.
On Wednesday evening, 32-year-old Seattle Mariner second baseman Kolten Wong tried. As the great Vin Scully used to say, “He was out from me to you.”
Wong had reached first on a one out single to Dodgers center fielder Trayce Thompson in the bottom of the first inning. This was followed by a sharp single to short right field by Mariners first baseman Ty France, on which Wong tried to go first-to-third on Outman. The hard-charging Dodgers right fielder scooped up the ball and fired a one hop laser shot to Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy, who applied the tag on Wong for the second out of the inning.
Unfortunately, that, and a seventh-inning RBI on a fielders choice by Dodgers second baseman Miguel Vargas, were pretty much the only highlights in the Dodgers 5-1 loss to Seattle at the Peoria Sports Complex on Wednesday night.
…but we’ll take it.
Play Ball!
