As the sour taste of Wednesday night’s 2-1 Dodgers loss to the National League East first-place New York Mets slowly wears off in what many are calling a preview to the 2022 National League Championship Series, Dodgers fans are beginning to take a closer look at yet another milestone in the brilliant (thus far) nine-year career of 29-year-old future Hall of Fame outfielder Mookie Betts, who slugged his career-tying 32nd home run of the season (with 33 regular season games remaining), accounting for the Dodgers lone run.
According to @DingerTracker, Betts’ sixth-inning blast traveled 415 feet to (very) deep left-center field.
What made Betts’ blast all the more impressive is that he hit it off of 34-year-old Mets future Hall of Fame right-hander Jacob deGrom, who has now allowed a grand total of three home runs this season and of whom Betts had this to say postgame:
That’s some pretty high praise coming from a guy who has a teammate by the name of Clayton Kershaw, wouldn’t you say?
Play Ball!
