Although the Dodgers starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the division-rival San Diego Padres has not yet been announced (but very soon will be), we know two things for sure:
- Dodgers left-hander and future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw will be making his 10th start of the 2022 season;
- Dodgers outfielder and future Hall of Famer Mookie Betts will be activated from the injured list and will start in right field.
Prior to Saturday’s 7-2 pounding of the Friars in front of 48,076 (mostly) happy fans, Betts, who was placed on the IL on June 18 after suffering a cracked rib in a collision with Dodgers center fielder Cody Bellinger, told reporters that he would be back “…either tomorrow or Monday.” Following said pounding, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts (more or less) confirmed it:
“The expectation is that Mookie will be back in (right field) tomorrow.”
When placed on the IL, Betts was slashing .273 / .349 / .535 / .884, with a team best 17 home runs and team fourth-best 40 runs batted in.
Needless to say – Welcome Back Mookie!
Play Ball!

I hope Doc keeps Trea batting leadoff and bats Mookie 3rd. Wherever he is in the order his presence will make a huge impact on the teams performance.
he should be batting 5th. i would have put him third prior but trea, freddie and smith have excelled in his absence. why disrupt that?
put him behind max (RLRLR) with JT behind him.
and, with this talent pool, he should never be playing 2nd! if he cant field his position then he should have DH’d. i wish this guy played for the name on the front.
Go Dodgers.
