Baseball fans on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have a new ‘Must Follow.’

Beginning on Wednesday, 92-year-old Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully is joining Twitter and Instagram (both at @TheVinScully) to interact with fans about baseball and whatever else is on his mind. Reportedly, he will also join Facebook in October (at Vin Scully).

There are already several fan-generated Vin Scully social media accounts honoring the man often referred to as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), but these reportedly will feature content from Vin himself.

Scully was the voice of the Dodgers for 67 years, retiring after the 2016 season. He has watched baseball history unfold firsthand while painting a Rembrandtesque visual picture of what was happening for listeners from behind the microphone.

The Bronx, New York native has witnessed 20 No-Hitters, including perfect games by Don Larsen, Sandy Koufax, and Dennis Martinez. He also holds the record for the most World Series games called at 28 games.

After announcing that 2016 would be his final season and in his honor, the city of Los Angeles officially changed the name of the street leading into Dodger Stadium and its address to 1000 Vin Scully Avenue.

This past April while retrieving his mail at home, Scully suffered a serious fall in his driveway that resulted in broken ribs, a broken nose, and a concussion.

“It was a learning experience, I hold on to my walker,” Scully told ESPN during a subsequent interview.

When news of Scully’s fall broke, fans from around the world turned to social media and for updates on his recovery. In fact, Scully himself recorded a short video that aired on Facebook assuring fans that he was in good spirits and on the road to recovery, and to “…salute first responders out there who are helping all of us during this unusual time.”

It has been four years since Scully called his final game from Dodger Stadium. But even though he is now enjoying his well-deserved retirement with his wife Sandra, you can still hear his voice narrating various video productions. His latest project was a video marking the birthday of the late Kobe Bryant. As only he could, Scully taped the emotional tribute in one take. It was posted on Twitter by the Dodgers.

This year has been an unpredictable and challenging year for all of us. Having Vin Scully on social media could be just the thing we all need.
