Now That’s More Like It!

Thursday’s game between the Dodgers of Los Angeles and the Athletics of Oakland Sacramento eventually Las Vegas was much better that Wednesday’s game;. Two touchdowns and a field goal better.

No really. That’s not Photoshopped in. That’s the actual line score. Here’s how it happened:

As you can see, Messrs. Max Muncy and Andy Pages both homered, as did international superstar Shohei Ohtani twice, on his bobblehead night, no less.

Ohtani’s first home run on Thursday was a 382-foot three-run shot to center off of Athletics right-hander Jason Alexander in the bottom of the third, and his second a 418-foot two-run shot also to center also off of Alexander in the bottom of the fourth. (SportsNet LA)

Worthy of mention, 24-year old Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing, who was called up from Triple-A OKC earlier Wednesday morning (with longtime popular Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes being designated for assignment) collected his first Major League hit – a sharp single to center in the bottom of the third – with his very proud mom watching on. The Dodgers selected the Memphis, TN native in the second round of the 2022 MLB draft out of the University of Louisville.

Rushing’s first career Major League hit was a sharp single back up the middle.

“It was one of the better nights of my life,” Rushing told SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson postgame. “I think for sure it will go to my mother, she’s here tonight,” Rushing told Watson when she asked him what he was going to do with the ball, which was kept and authenticated.

One proud momma.

A better night for all – Athletics fans notwithstanding.

And, I will add James Outman in the home run list since I have been pretty harsh on the young man. Kudos James — now, keep it up.
