Freddie’s Ready

Although it took three games and four at-bats, future Hall of Fame Dodgers first baseman (and designated hitter) Freddie Freeman finally hit his first Spring Training home run in Saturday’s 6-5 win over The Hated Ones at Camelback Ranch Glendale. Freeman’s blast to right-center field tied the game at 3-3 and came in his third at-bat of the game in the sixth inning.

“Freddie had a great day,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said postgame. “Two hard-hit balls and then the homer, which was really hit. He had a great day of work.”

Freeman, who made his Spring Training debut on Thursday and lined a single in his first at-bat, hopes to be ready for the Dodgers upcoming 2025 regular season opening series against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo, Japan on March 18-19. He has seen very limited action this Spring as he continues to recover from right ankle surgery for “Debridement and the removal of loose bodies.”

Welcome back, Freddie!
