by Ron Cervenka If you are a fan of 52-year-old Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, there is an exceptionally good chance that you will be pleased to know that his current contract, which runs through the 2025 season, will likely be extended.
If you are not a fan of the (to this point) nine-year Dodgers skipper (and 10-year MLB manager, if you count his one game as manager of the San Diego Padres in 2015), there is an exceptionally good chance that you will be disappointed following the 2025 season.
On Saturday, it was reported on social media that Roberts will soon meet with Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman to discuss what will likely be a multi-year contract extension:
During his nine seasons as the Dodgers skipper, Roberts owns an incredible 851-705 record for a .627 winning percentage, the best ever as a big league manager with at least 1,000 MLB games managed. He finished in the top five in the National League Manager of the Year voting seven times, winning the prestigious award in 2016 and finishing second in 2017 and 2022.
“Hopefully, everything takes care of itself,” Roberts said during a recent ESPN podcast. “But it’s about value. And I love this organization, but yeah, you want to feel your value. Absolutely.”
Although it has long been said ‘There is no such thing as a sure thing,’ it’s a pretty safe bet that this is ‘a sure thing.’

Any “fan” still making negative statements about Dave Roberts oughta have his head examined.
Winning the World Series twice in ten years while also having managed his team to it two more times (and being cheated out of at least one!) is an all time great manager. Dave’s trip to the Hall of Fame as a Manager is already assured. IF he can get them there again and win one again he will be among the all time great baseball managers.
And for the moron who will inevitably say something like their mother could win with the roster he has? Just stop watching baseball, you know nothing about the game.
They need to be a Taylorless team.
