‘It’s What Kersh Does’

It’s probably safe to say that a good many Dodgers fans were pretty confident that future first ballot Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw was going to re-sign with the only team he has ever known – the one that drafted him in the first round (seventh overall) in 2006 out of Highland Park High School in Dallas, TX. And even though the 10-time All-Star, five-time ERA title holder, three-time Cy Young Award winner, 2014 MLB MVP, and former Triple Crown winner probably won’t make a competitive pitch in 2025 until mid season (or later) as he recovers from left knee and foot surgery this past November, he is very optimistic that he will return to form.

“His commitment to be [here] first day (of Spring Training) with the guys and being out there; he’s more than just a player, he shows what this organization is all about. It’s about being together from the beginning and being unselfish in all capacities, and that’s what Kersh does, you know?,” Dodgers veteran utility infielder Miguel Rojas told reporters upon learning of Kershaw being in camp.

“…what Kersh does,” indeed.
