Dodgers Roster Tweaking

Should the Dodgers be outbid for each of their free agents (other than Clayton Kershaw), fail to sign a substantive MLB free agent from the 2025 class, and stand pat in the trade market, they will still be the overwhelming favorite to repeat as World Series Champions.

“A Dodger for life,” future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw recently said.

But the team will not stand pat and will not allow complacency to erode the opportunity to be a dynasty with multiple championships over the next decade and beyond.

While Dodgers players and fans bask in the 2024 World Series Championship, Andrew Friedman, perhaps MLB’s unofficial executive of the decade, and his staff are considering various scenarios for the 40-man rosters in 2025 and beyond. There are questions to be answered about the availability of players recovering from injuries, offers to internal and/or external free agents, which prospects are ready to take their place on the roster or to be used as trade capital. Nonetheless, the Dodgers are well positioned for parades and parties in 2025-27.

It’s hard to argue that Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman isn’t the best in the game today. (SportsNet LA)

    GREAT piece, Jesse. Thanks!!!

Jesse – Are you implying that the dodgers should not resign Teoscar Hernades? Lets go all out, the Dodgers should sign Willie Adames and Corbin Burnes. They wanted both last year. How about Roki Sasaki if he becomes available?

    • Jesse Pearce says:

First, I am a fan of Teo not only for his talent but his intangibles as a terrific teammate. But, I think the Dodgers need to start the process of getting younger. Ages for 2025 season: Betts (32), Freeman (35), Smith (30), Muncy (34), Taylor (34), Rojas (36), Barnes (35). Teo will be 32 for the 2025 season. So, yaes, Teo gets a longer, more lucrative deal elsewhere. In his place, Dodgers trade for CF’er Robert with Rush, Kike, Donovan, and possibly Outman handling LF. Teo’s money goes toward signing Adames who statistically offsets Hernandez offense and substantially upgrades the overall defense.

Agreed, Dodgers should make certain that they set aside enough salary budget for Saski. While Burns is a terrific pitcher, the Dodgers are loaded with outstanding RH pitching talent, now in the future. I would rather have the younger and much less expensive LH’er Crochet.

  3. Rather sign
    Teo
    Kiki
    Buehler
    Treinin
    Maybe Tanner Scott

    Go to spring training

    • Jesse Pearce says:

We are in agreement on Kike, Buehler and Treinen. Tanner Scott is tempting but he will come at a much higher price and similar talent as Banda and Vesia. I think Dodgers will move southpaw Wrobleski to the bullpen.
