The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees in Game-2 of the 2024 World Series at Dodger Stadium on Saturday evening to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven championship series, but it came at an enormous and potentially series-changing cost.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, international superstar Shohei Ohtani drew a five-pitch (unintentional intentional) walk. He then attempted to steal second base as fellow superstar Mookie Betts struck out swing but was caught stealing for the strike-em-out/throw-em-out double play to end the inning.
But as soon as the Oshu, Japan native was tagged out, he immediately grabbed his left arm in very obvious pain, prompting Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and assistant athletic trainer Yosuke Nakajima to rush from the dugout to check on the likely 2024 NL MVP. The pair then escorted Ohtani off the field, with Nakajima leading him into the clubhouse.
Needless to say, Sunday is going to be a very long off day for Dodger fans.
