Good News – Bad News

For fans of soon-to-be (on August 29) 34-year-old Dodgers utility infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor, Thursday was a good day.

For fans of just-turned (on August 9) 35-year-old Dodgers outfielder Jason Heyward, who slugged a game-winning three-run home run just three days ago, not so much.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said “That was, shoot, that was probably the highlight for me of the season thus far,” of Heyward’s game-winning home run on Tuesday.

In his thus far 189 plate appearances this season, Taylor is 27-for-162 (.167), with three home runs, 15 RBI, and 62 strikeouts.

In his 197 plate appearances this season, Heyward was 36-for-173 (.208), with six home runs, 28 RBI, and 36 strikeouts.

Taylor returns from the 10-day Injured List for what was called “a left groin strain” but was probably more just to give the Virginia Beach, VA native a break rather than DFA-ing him.

Did Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman fire the right guy?

Stay tuned…
