On August 20, 2024, 35-year-old 15-year MLB veteran outfielder Jason Heyward hit what many consider to be the single biggest home run of the 2024 season in the Dodgers exciting 6-3 win over the Seattle Mariners, a game-winning 372-foot three-run blast into the visitors right field bullpen in front of a Dodger Stadium crowd of 48,395 – a home run of which Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said:
“That was, shoot, that was probably the highlight for me of the season thus far.”

On Monday evening, August 26, 2024, the Dodgers announced that they had released the popular Ridgewood, NJ native and five-time Gold Glove outfielder.
Heyward appeared in 63 games with the Dodger this season, his second with the team, during which he posted a less-than-ideal .208 /.289 /.393 /.682 slash line that included 17 walks and 36 strikeouts. As such, his release from the team with the best offense in the National League wasn’t entirely unexpected.
Regardless, J-Hey, as he was affectionately called by his teammates, was a great clubhouse guy and his class and kindness will be greatly missed.
Play Ball!
