On the heels of what many are calling the single worst Dodgers loss of the 2024 regular season (or longer), Dodger fans received some much-needed good news late Saturday evening.
After suffering their horrific bottom-of-the-10th-inning 11-9 walk-off loss to the AL Central fourth-place Detroit Tigers at a sold out Comerica Park on Saturday afternoon, a loss that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said “stinks,” this was posted on social media by the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City Baseball Club about Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw:
Kershaw’s rehab start on Saturday was his second since his November 3, 2023 gleno-humeral ligaments surgery on his left shoulder. His first rehab start was on June 19 with the team’s Low Single-A affiliate Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at LoanMart Field, after which his rehab was shut for what Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described as “lingering soreness.”
The tentative plan for the 36-year-old Dallas, TX native and Dodgers first round draft pick in 2006 out of Highland Park High School in Dallas is to make at least one more minor league rehab start, presumably again at OKC, where he is expected to toss four innings during the weekend following the 2024 All-Star break. Depending on how that goes, the team will meet with Kershaw and trainers to discuss what’s next for the Dodgers ace and future first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Obviously, it is imperative that Kershaw be fully recovered from his surgery before returning to action with The Big Club, but with the current state of the Dodgers starting rotation (and their beleaguered bullpen), his return to action can’t happen soon enough.
Play Ball!

Dodgers are a hot mess right now. AF has got some work to do. Getting a productive Kershaw back would be a step in the right direction.
