Although the National League West first-place Los Angeles Dodgers went 3-3 on their just-concluded six-game homestand by dropping two of three to their division-rival third-place Arizona Diamondbacks and taking two of three from the NL Central place-first Milwaukee Brewers, there are some, many, in fact, who believe that the team considered among the best in the game today and the team sending the most representatives to the upcoming 2024 MLB All-Star Game (six), should have done better. But as they say: “You can’t win ’em all.”
Following Monday’s much-needed off day, the (now) 55-36 Dodgers are about to open a crucial six-game road trip with three games against the NL East first-place Philadelphia Phillies, who currently own the best record in all of baseball at 58-32, and three against the 43-48 AL Central fourth-place Detroit Tigers.
Although the Dodgers should win (or sweep) the three interleague games against the Tigers, the three-game series against the Phillies could be a precursor to the 2024 National League Championship Series, should both teams make it that far.
Unfortunately, the Dodgers will again be without the services of future Hall of Fame shortstop Mookie Betts for the road trip. As such, it is imperative that Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Teoscar Hernández, and Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow continue their All-Star ways.
Keep your foot on the gas, boys.
