It seems like nearly every day Dodgers international superstar Shohei Ohtani sets, ties, or breaks some kind of Dodgers, National League, or MLB record. In Saturday’s 5-3 win over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers in front of a sold out Dodger Stadium crowd of 50,086, the 30-year-old Oshu, Japan native did this:
Ironically (and poetically), Ohtani pulled off this extremely rare feat against Christian Yelich‘s team.
“Hitting is very difficult certainly when you’re Shohei, and guys are going to bring their best when they face him,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said postgame. “But I think, for him, just simplifying where he’s good in the strike zone, then the natural ability takes over, and I’ve just never seen really anything like it.”
Of course, Ohtani’s eighth-inning 430-foot solo home run to center field off of Brewers left-hander Bryan Hudson wasn’t too shabby either. It was his team and National League-leading 28th home run of the season and came two pitches after Hudson surrendered a 368-foot solo shot to left-center field by Dodgers pinch-hitter Miguel Vargas, to give the Dodgers their 5-3 lead and final score.
What record will Ohtani tie, set, or break in Sunday’s series finale against the National League Central first-place Brewers?
Stay tuned…
