Okay I admit it. This was (another) overuse of the popular old beer campaign (for those old enough to remember), but in this case, it is absolutely ‘Miller Time.’
As was announced by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts on Saturday afternoon, 24-year-old Dodgers rookie right-hander Bobby Miller will start Game-2 of the 2023 National League Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium on Monday evening.
“It’s an honor to have the trust of the coaches and teammates to put me out there in Game-2. I feel ready to go,” the extremely popular Elk Grove Village, IL native and Dodgers first-round draft pick in 2020 out of the University of Louisville told reporters prior to Saturday’s lopsided 11-2 loss to those same Dbacks.
All the (very) hard-throwing right-hander did to earn that honor and trust was post a team-second-best regular season record of 11-4 (behind Clayton Kershaw’s 14-5 record), with a team-second-best regular season ERA of 3.76 ERA (behind Kershaw’s 2.46 ERA) over his 22 regular season starts and 124.1 innings pitched. He also struck out 119 of the 505 opposing batters he faced, while walking only 32.
It is indeed ‘Miller Time.’
