0-for-4 but NOT 0-For-5

Although ThinkBlueLA is an LA Dodgers blog site, there’s not a whole lot of Dodgers news to talk about, with them having been swept out of the first round of the postseason … again. As such, and being that we are all addicted to baseball (you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t), we have little choice but to watch the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks (grrrr…) in the NLCS and/or the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros (GRRRR…) in the ALCS to quench our baseball postseason thirst.

It’s probably safe to say that there isn’t a Dodgers fan on the planet who does not absolutely loathe the Astros for cheating their team out of the 2017 World Championship (literally). And even though Dodgers fans may not have any deep loyalty for the Rangers, Texas unquestionably has more Dodgers fans pulling for them than do the Astros.

In Sunday evening’s game between the two Texas teams at Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston, Rangers right fielder Adolis García entered Game-6 of the 2023 ALCS, having gone a less-than-stellar 5-for-22 (.227) in the best-of-seven series and was 0-for-4 on the night with four strikeouts. However, (come on, you knew a ‘however’ was coming) three of those five ALCS hits have been home runs.

Make that 1-for-5 on the night with four ALCS home runs.

In true Adolis García fashion, and with his team already up 5-2 over the Astros, the 30-year-old Ciego de Avila, Cuba native slugged his fourth home run of the ALCS, a 375-foot grand slam, into the left field seats at Minute Maid Park.

Probably not where Astros right-hander Ryne Stanek should have put his 97.4-MPH four-seam fastball to the Rangers’ most dangerous hitter. (FS1)

Game-7 of the 2023 ALCS will be carried live on FS1 at 5:03 PM (PT), with a trip to the 2023 World Series at stake.

Play Ball!

  1. Corey Seager the one that got away. Trea Turner was never one of us.

  2. Desertball says:

Lux was not going to be our shortstop of the future. We let our two homegrown middle of the order left handed bats leave. Should never have let Belly AND Seager leave. Should’ve kept one of them. Outman and Belly would’ve looked good together in the outfield. The non-tender was the issue. Former MVP and ROY walks and we get nothing out of it?
