Thirty-four-year-old Villa Park, CA native Freddie Freeman became the third player in MLB history (joining Chuck Klein in 1932 and Alfonso Soriano in 2002) and the only first baseman in MLB’s 154-year history with 200 hits, 50 doubles, 25 home runs, and 20 stolen bases in a single season.
“I’ve always had sights set on it,” the ever so humble Freeman told reporters postgame about his milestone and record-setting hit. “But 200 just means that you’re in there a lot, you’re healthy, playing every day, and you had a pretty good year.”
As Dodger fans know, Freeman was signed by the Dodgers as a free agent on March 18, 2022, and becomes a free agent after this season. He is also a tremendous clubhouse leader and inspiration for the many younger Dodgers players.
Well done, Freddie!
