Another day, another milestone for Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman.
…or four.
The extremely popular 34-year-old Villa Park, CA native, who the Dodgers signed as a free agent on March 18, 2022, clubbed his 29th home run of the season in the top of the third inning and his 59th double of the season in the top of the sixth inning against the NL West fourth place San Francisco Giants at Pacific Bell Park, SBC Park, AT&T Park, Oracle Park on Friday evening in the Dodgers eventual 6-2 win over The Hated Ones.
Along the way, Freeman:
- Became the LA Dodgers single-season runs leader at 131 to pass Dodgers great Maury Wills‘ 130 runs scored during his 1962 NL MVP season to become one of only 16 players in Dodger franchise history to reach the 130+ runs mark, tying him at 14th all-time with former Brooklyn Dodger Bill McClellan set in 1886.
- Became the LA Dodgers single-season doubles leader at 59 with his double to center in the sixth inning.
- Now has 90 extra-base hits on the season for the most in LA Dodgers history, passing Shawn Green‘s 84 set in 2000 and trails only Babe Herman‘s franchise record of 94 set in 1930.
- Recorded his 101st RBI on the season for fourth most on the team behind Mookie Betts‘ 106, Max Muncy‘s 105, and J.D. Martinez‘s 103.
“I mean, obviously that would be cool but, you know, if it happens it happens,” Freeman reluctantly answered Sportsnet LA’s Kirsten Watson postgame when she asked him how important it would be for him to reach 60 doubles. “It’s just a number. I just want to win another game, get to a hundred. So, if it happens, it’s great, but I’m not really trying to do it. But hopefully I do.”
Freeman has two regular-season games remaining “…to do it.”
“Hopefully” he does.
Play Ball!

He’ll do it. Count on it. And he’ll go for more too if there are enough AB’s.
