When the Dodgers acquired shortstop Amed Rosario from the Cleveland Guardians last week in exchange for right-hander Noah Syndergaard and cash considerations, there were probably a good many Dodgers fans that said “Who?”
Now this most certainly isn’t meant out of disrespect for the 27-year-old Santo Domingo Centro, Dominican Republic native who was signed by the New York Mets as an amateur free agent back in 2012, it is merely to say that having spent four seasons with the Mets and the last three with the American League Cleveland Guardians, the seven-year MLB veteran’s name wasn’t well known to Dodgers fans with his (to that point) .265/.306/.369/.675 season slash line and his combined 57 career home runs and 316 career RBIs.
Again, this isn’t meant to discredit or disrespect Rosario in any way, shape, or form, it’s just that his name wasn’t often heard out here on the West Coast.
It might be now.
During Wednesday night’s 10-1 pounding of the Oakland Athletics in front of a Dodger Stadium crowd of 47,711, and in only his fourth game (second start) with his new team, Rosario clubbed his first home run in a Dodgers uniform (the 58th of his career and fourth of the season) – a 373-foot two-run shot to right-center field – to give the Dodgers a then 7-0 lead.
“I’ve been very blessed to have all the guys kind of corral me in and give me an opportunity to join the team and have a smooth transition to being a Dodger,” Rosario told reporters postgame
Rosario, who played the entire game as the Dodgers second baseman, finished the night going 2-for-4, with his other hit being a sixth-inning single. With those two hits, he is now 5-for-13 as a Dodger and slashing an impressive .385/.429/.692/1.121 with his new team.
Welcome to the Dodgers fam, Amed!
Play Ball!

Darn good trade. Essentially got Amed for nothing. Syndergaard was a total flop. Rosario has already done more for the Dodgers than Thor did.
He is actually having a better year than Trea Turner.
Turner: 443AB, .662 OPS, 10 HR, 34 RBI, .237 BA, 81 OPS+.
Rosario: 398 AB, .689 OPS, 4HR, 43 RBI, .269 BA, 92 OPS+.
