When 26-year-old Dodgers left-hander Julio Urías went on the injured list for a left hamstring strain back on May 18, he was leading the MLB in home runs allowed at 14.
The good news is that he did not allow a home run in his first game back on Saturday afternoon against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium in downtown KC.
The bad news is the the Royals, the second worst team in all of baseball thus far this season, absolutely lit the popular Culiacan, Mexico native up, scoring five first-inning earned runs on four first-inning hits, with one first-inning walk, and one first-inning hit batsman in his abbreviated 3.0 innings pitched, forcing Dodgers manager Dave Robert to call upon his beleaguered bullpen far earlier than expected in the Dodgers eventual 6-4 loss to the Royals.
Urías finished his short outing having made only 66 pitches, of which 43 were strikes. And though there has been no official word from the Dodgers, one has to believe that Urías may still be feeling the effects from his six-week-old hamstring injury.
Stay tuned.
