Remember that name Dodgers (and baseball) fans – it’s Jonny Deluca, no h.
You can bet that Texas Rangers center fielder Leody Taveras and Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien will remember it – forever.
All the 25-year-old Thousand Oaks, CA native and Dodgers 25th-round draft pick in 2019 out of the University of Oregon did in only his 21st major league game was make two spectacular catches – back-to-back – in center field for the team that he grew up watching.
Deluca’s first impossible catch was a diving catch to his right on a line drive hit by Taveras that had double (or triple) written all over it. But instead, Deluca left his feet going completely horizontal to make a catch that we will be seeing on highlight reels for years to come.
But wait, there’s more!
Semien, the Rangers very next batter, hit a line drive to very deep left-center field on which Deluca made a leaping catch against the wall to rob the Rangers All-Star infielder of what absolutely positively would have been his 14th home run of the season.
“The first one, I was very surprised I caught it. I just ran as hard as I could, courtesy dive, and it ended up going in the glove,” a humble Deluca told SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson postgame. “I feel like the second one, I made it harder than it needed to be.”
Perennial All-Star and future Hall of Famer Mookie Betts disagrees.
“He may surprise other people, but he’s not surprising me. I know what he’s capable of. I know what kind of person he is,” Betts told Watson of Deluca’s back-to-back sensational catches.
The only terrifying concern for Dodgers fans is that Deluca may become a trade chip for the rapidly approaching MLB trade deadline – a very real concern for a Dodgers team looking to add starting pitching.
But regardless, remember that name Dodgers (and baseball) fans – it’s Jonny Deluca, no h.

The older Dodger teams would keep you g talent like Deluca.
The Dodgers would be out of their minds to trade Jonny. He’s going to be a superstar. We need speed, great defense and hitters who can hit for high average.286 or higher. DeLuca is capable. Don’t trade him period.
We also don’t need Ohtani no place to put him. We have the best DH
