“Everything is as it should be” – Trenton Lee Stewart, – The Mysterious Benedict Society

The San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies are muddling around at the bottom of the National League West, while the San Diego Padres remind baseball pundits and fans that they are never quite as good as they appear on paper. The Arizona Diamondbacks are proving to be pretenders rather than contenders, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in first place — all as it should be.
Of course, 131 games remain in the 2023 MLB season, but for now much is good and there is joy in Mudville as Tommy Lasorda smiles down on the boys in blue. And the future seems bright as the youngsters prove that they belong in the Show and injured veterans continue to heal for the final pennant push during the “Dog Days” of summer.
There will be the inevitable slumps, bumps, and bruises that are part of the great game of Major League Baseball — we fans will gnash our teeth and wag our fingers as players and manger frustrate our high expectations.
But in the long run, everything will be as it should be.
Go Dodgers!
