To say that Dodgers right-hander Dustin May is having a good Spring is a bit of an understatement. The truth of the matter is that the extremely popular 25-year-old Justin, TX native and Dodgers third-round draft pick in 2016 out of Northwest High School in Justin is having a great Spring. In fact, he is making Dodgers manager Dave Roberts‘ decision on who his Opening Day starter will be increasingly difficult. Not a bad problem to have, wouldn’t you say?
In his fourth start of the Spring and despite the Dodgers eventual 6-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon (May’s first loss of the Spring), the very hard-throwing right-hander allowed two runs and only three hits in his four innings of work. Unfortunately, one of those three hits was a first-inning two-run home run to A’s catcher Shea Langeliers.
“You know what, Dustin today actually was a little bit under the weather, didn’t feel great, so, you know, that first inning, gave up a 3-2 homer, didn’t have the command, I think, you know, he would have wanted today with anything,” Roberts told SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson postgame. “But I still think he grinded, got through four innings, and we got the pitch-count up, so just kinda keep moving forward was a good thing.”
So, who would your Opening Day starter be? Fire away.

Robots says whatever the front office tells him to say. He is a toady. And a dope.
dont know if i’d call him a dope but the puppet strings are visible from a distance.
You guys are the dopes. Dave and Andrew have made a good team so far. And their differences; to the degree they have them, are kept among themselves instead of referred to in the media – which is why you think he just does whatever Andrew suggests.
I’d suggest resting Julio a bit after the WBC and give May the Opening Day start. A nod to May’s rehab efforts, an acknowledgement of his importance to the organization and just smart to allow Julio any break possible to keep him strong for the end of the season.
Keep drinking the blue Kool-Aid. AF has made a mess of this roster.
